For Every Mom Who Wishes She’d Started Sooner

Wishes and flowers go together, right?!

Did you ever have one of those “ungh, I should’ve started this forever ago” moments? Same. Whether it’s organizing the family calendar, chasing that dream, or finally doing something just for me, there’s tons of times I have wished I would have started things sooner. But, between after school activities, work, finding lost shoes, and pretending to listen to them describe the latest gadget, things tend to slip. We moms are basically professional jugglers with no audience, or applause. But here’s what I’ve learned the hard way: it’s not about when we start. It’s about finally deciding our goals deserve a spot on the calendar, right between being a chauffeur, and snack time.

Here’s a list of thoughts many moms have had:

  • I wish I had kids sooner. I won't get as much time with them.

  • I wish I started my retirement accounts at my first job.

  • I wish I started the kids college funds when they were born.

  • I wish we would’ve had the kids doing chores ages ago.

  • I wish we traveled more when the kids were really little.

  • I wish I would have journaled more and consistently as a young adult.

  • I wish I would have prioritized my well-being at a younger age.

So there’s a chance we didn’t start when it was trendy, or on a normal timeline. Maybe we were too busy trying to survive snack negotiations and bedtime battles. But the win? We started. We showed up for ourselves, even if it took a few extra pivots (and maybe a meltdown or two). Progress isn’t about perfect timing, it’s just about showing up.

Coaching question:
What’s one thing you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to start - and how could you take one step towards that wishful goal today?

Until next time, enjoy the journey!
